From January 1st, 2019, 5,000 gross tonnage and above began collecting data on their fuel-oil consumption, under the mandatory data collection reporting requirements which enter into force in March 2018. The MARPOL Annex IV regulation on collecting and reporting of ship fuel oil consumption data requires ships of 5,000 gross tonnage and above to collect consumption data for each type of fuel oil they use, as well as other, specified data including proxies for transport work. IMO’S Facilitation Committee addresses the efficiency of shipping by dealing with all matters related to the facilitation of international maritime traffic. The committee is meeting for it’s 43rd session, coinciding with the entry into effect of new requires for all public authorities to introduce electronic exchange of information between ships and ports. The Committee is expected to work on harmonization and develop Guidelines for setting up a single window system in maritime transport. More Information
