Albion Marine Solutions is North America's accredited Lloyd's and ABS-approved service provider to conduct Biological Testing of Ballast Water Management System During Commissioning Following Installation.

IMO-D2 Commissioning: IMO-D2 Commissioning refers to testing and verifying the proper functioning of a vessel's ballast water management system (BWMS) per the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) D2 standard. The D2 standard sets criteria for the discharge of ballast water to prevent the spread of harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens.

With the IMO BWM Convention entered into force on September 8, 2017, ships need to ensure that their installed Ballast water treatment System satisfies the IMO D-2 regulations during the commissioning of BWMS. The standard concerns water quality being discharged, related to specified maximum concentrations of micro-organisms. Further, On June 1, 2022, IMO Resolution MEPC.325(75) to the BWM Convention entered into force. Following the successful installation of any ballast water treatment system, ballast water commissioning testing in accordance with BWM.2/Circ.70, rev1 must be performed.

It is required for all vessels to undergo IMO-D2 Commissioning to ensure compliance with international regulations and mitigate the risks associated with the transfer of invasive species through ballast water. The commissioning process involves assessing the performance, effectiveness, and efficiency of the BWMS to ensure it meets the required standards. By conducting IMO-D2 Commissioning, vessels can demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and safeguarding marine ecosystems.

US EPA VGP 2013: US EPA VGP 2013 Sampling refers to collecting and analyzing water samples from a vessel to assess compliance with the Vessel General Permit (VGP) requirements set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The VGP is a regulatory program that aims to minimize the impact of vessel discharges on the marine environment.

VGP 2013 Sampling is required to ensure that vessels operating in US waters meet the specific discharge limitations and environmental standards outlined in the VGP. The sampling process involves testing the quality and characteristics of various discharges, including ballast, bilge, and gray water, to verify compliance with the permit requirements.
