ERMA FIRST has received an amended Type Approval from the China Classification Society (CCS) for its strong-selling FIT range of ballast water management systems and awarded Certificate under the Authority of the Government of the People’s Republic of China. The system, which uses advanced full-flow electro-chlorination technology, can now be used on Chinese flagged vessels and is the first such system to receive approval in China under IMO Resolution MEPC 300 (72). The approval is valid for the full range of models 75-3000 with the option of its three filter types: FILTERSAFE, FILTREX and HYDAC. Read more: Tanker Operator 

Albion Marine's team completed a 3D scan & survey for design concept of a Ballast Water Treatment installation which the shipping company plans to install in order to fulfill the latest Ballast Water quality requirements. Methanol has proven to be a safe marine fuel and has the backing of IMO following its approval. IMO’s Maritime Safety. Committee approved interim guidelines for the use of methyl and ethyl alcohol on ships during meetings in November 2020. These guidelines include provisions for the arrangement, installation, control and monitoring of machinery, equipment and systems using methyl/ethyl alcohol as fuel. The Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers developed the guidelines in the context of its work related to the IGF Code. More information: Riviera News
