New IMO G8 Guidelines for BWTS Type Approval come to effect on 28th of October 2020.
The revised G8 Guidelines, also referred to as the BWMS Code, are robust and more defined.
The Guidelines are similar to today’s U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requirements.
It is an end user-driven change. The Guidelines were developed because a number of initially IMO Type Approved BWTS fail to meet the IMO D-2 performance standard in practice.
