Albion Marine Solutions Team Update

Albion Marine Solutions has signed a contract with one of the largest shipyards in the Middle East. The scope of work includes engineering services for a retrofit of ballast water management systems on board of their clients’ vessels. Our Director, Sergiy Yakovenko, commented: “Albion Marine went trough rigorous selection process. The client conducted very detailed evaluation. The quality of engineering work, availability of qualified personnel, and cost were major selection criteria. We are pleased with the outcome and looking forward to many successful projects” The project will be manage by our engineering office, located in Chennai, India. Albion Marine maintains its reputation as a “one-stop” solution for all ballast water management system retrofit needs.

Albion Marine Solutions Celebrated “Eid Festival”

Our team celebrated the “Eid Festival” observed by the Muslim community. With the help of Mr. Bashar, our director of engineering, our team was able to share a nice lunch to enjoy this celebration. As an international company, with many different backgrounds, we celebrate various holidays, speak different languages and share many cultures.

Protecting the North Atlantic right whale

Transport Canada has released Ship SAFETY Bulletin 11/2019 to adapt to the changing migration of North Atlantic Right Whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The previous interim measures slowing vessels down within the designated shipping lanes may have been pushing ships closer to where the endangered mammals are now gathering as vessels were altering routes to compensate for the lower speeds in the previous order. The whales have not been seen in the shipping lanes recently, and as a result the interim measures have been adjusted. Read more

New mid-year record for container volumes through the Port of Vancouver

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority released the 2019 mid-year cargo statistics for goods and passengers moving through the Port of Vancouver. Between January 1 and June 30, 2019, overall cargo through the port increased 0.5% to a record 72.5 million metric tonnes (MMT) over the same time last year, with new mid-year records in containers, potash, grain and cruise passengers. European capacity for gas expands

Despite substantial excess LNG import capacity, Europe is investing in new LNG terminals as it looks to phase out coal-fired plants and nuclear power in favour of renewable energy and gas. Germany, Europe’s largest gas importer, has shifted its policy and plans to import LNG directly, diversifying its energy sources and strengthening its energy security. Read more
